Weekend Recap & Special Friend

I hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Friday was a very low key night. Chris worked late and I relaxed at home. We had Chick FilA for dinner around 9:30 and then went to bed! I feel so lame most Friday nights but my kiddos suck the energy out of me during the week!

Saturday, I woke up and got ready to go with a friend to look at the house her and her husband are building. Side note, Andrea and I are similar in so many ways. We have been friends for a little over 4 years but look what all we have been through together...

What's Your Love Story?

Becky over at FromMrsToMama is having a fun love story link-up. I totally love her blog and her beautiful little girl! I am definitely waiting for her to post her house tour. From the sneak peaks she has posted it looks amazing!! I definitely recommend checking out her blog!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
A little over 8 years!! Chris and I started dating our Senior year
of high school and have been together ever since!
(I can't believe I am posting this picture but it is from high school...)

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We met through one of our mutual friends, Matt. Him and Chris have been friends since they were little and Matt and I met freshman year of high school. Matt and I worked together at Roadhouse. Him and Chris were going golfing and Matt invited his then girlfriend. He also invited me so that I could meet Chris and it's all history from there!

3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry?
We have been married for 8 months and a few days :-)! June 4th, 2011 is a day that I will never forget!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
We got married in Magnolia, TX at a venue called Ashelynn Manor. As soon as I found it online, I knew it was the place we would get married!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
We really don't have names for each other. He calls me Alli and I call him babe. Boring I know!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
I love his sense of humor, his determination when he wants something, and the fact that he loves and cares about me!

7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
It was amazing! We are a very laid back couple and that is exactly how he proposed. I knew it was coming sometime soon and didn't think he could surprise me. It was a Thursday and a friend of mine and I went to get pedicures. I then went by the mall and eventually went home. Chris was already home when I got there and asked what was for dinner. I was craving grilled cheese and that is exactly what we were going to have... so I thought. I went upstairs and changed into my pajamas and then started making the grilled cheese. I was not paying attention to what he was doing. Sometime while I was prepping to make the sandwiches, he went upstairs. He started calling my name and in my head I was thinking really, you want me to come up there while I am making YOU dinner. So whatever, I went upstairs and when I got to the top of the steps, I saw him down on one knee in his study. I could not believe what I was seeing and burst into tears (happy of course). I ran over to him and said yes! I cried more and kissed and loved on him. I then remembered the grilled cheese on the stove...ran downstairs and they were burn't. He told me to go change. He had made dinner reservations at a very nice restaurant. Like I said, very low key and very us. I am so glad it happened at home, just the two of us. It was a very special moment and I will cherish the memory forever!!

8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
Neither! Which is fine because neither am I! He has given me flowers a few times in our relationship but that's not really us.

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
Definitely a pop a movie in and relax on the couch kinda couple! The beach is not our favorite place but we enjoyed our honeymoon of course. Most weekends we have something to do so when we have a night with nothing to do we enjoy time together just us!

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
This was hard to narrow down because I want to do so many things with him. I would love to go sky diving with him but he says that will never happen! I am scared to death of it but know we could do it together!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
No plans! & I hope it stays that way!! We will probably make a nice dinner at home and enjoy each others company.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
Nope, we don't really celebrate Valentine's day... I think it is kinda silly. We get each other just because gifts sometimes but don't normally celebrate V-day. I think we celebrated the first and maybe second year we were together...

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
COMMUNICATE! If you have been reading my blog for any length of time, you know that we are building a home. I think we have avoided MANY fights by being able to communicate and compromise well.

14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.

Leave a comment if you have done this post as well, I would love to go read it!! I hope everyone has a special Valentine's day celebrating however you would like!

ABC's of our wedding

Chris and I have been married for 6 months and a day! I could post about our wedding daily but don't think it is as exciting to everyone else as it is to me. I have seen this post done on many different blogs and think it is a great wedding recap! In honor of our 6 month anniversary... here are the ABC's of our wedding.

A- Attending
We had around 155 people in attendance.

B- Bridesmaids
I had 6 amazing bridesmaids. My sister was my maid of honor, I had 3 friends from high school, and 2 friends from college.

C-Cakes
Our cakes were one of my favorite parts of the entire wedding. I had seen my cake in a picture 2 years before our wedding. I always thought it was beautiful and I had to have it. Not only did it taste amazing, but it looked amazing!! If you are getting married in the Houston area, I have the best cake lady to reccomend!

D- Dress
I knew this was my dress when I first put it on!

E- Engagement
Our engagement was very low key and perfect! We got engaged at our house and then went to dinner and celebrated. Here are a few of our engagement pictures.

F- Flowers
I loved our flowers! We used an Aggie run company but I do not remember what they were called. They were awesome!

G-Groomsmen
Chris also had 6 groomsmen. His brother and 5 friends from highschool/college. We went to highschool and college with all of the groomsmen. Great group of guys!

H- Honeymoon
We had an amazing honeymoon. We stayed 7 nights in Antigua at the Sandals resort. It was paradise.

I- Invitations
Our invitations were a task. I wanted to make them myself and life happens. They ended up having to be reprinted. They turned our great! I know I have a picture but I can't find it.

J- Justice of the peace
I guess this means preacher... Chris's youth minister married us. It was very special. He also married his uncle a few years before.

K- Keepsakes
We didn't want a guestbook because we didn't think we would look at it. We choose a picture that our guest would sign around. We haven't found the perfect place to hang it just yet but I loved how it turned out.

L- Ladies Night
We went to San Antonio & New Branfuels for my bachelorette party. It was so much fun and we have a ton of great memories from it. My girls really know how to throw a party!!

M- Music
We used traditional music for the most part. We walked into the reception to the Aggie War Hymn.

N- Newlyweds
I still definitely consider us newlyweds!

O- Old, New, Borrowed, Blue
My something old was a coin that was tapped to the bottom of my shoe.
My something new was my dress (original, I know). My something blue was stitching on a hankerchief that Chris's grandmother sewed for me. I can't remember my something borrowed. ( I think it may have been one of my bridesmaids deodorant)

P- Photography
Our photographer was amazing!! He really caught some great moments.

Q- Question Popping
This is similar to the engagement question right?!? Here is a picture of our ring collection.

R- Reception
Was so much fun, here are a few pictures from the reception.

S- Shoes
Nothing to special. They were a white/cream color with pearls & bling. Here is a picture of some of the bridesmaid shoes. I loved them!

T- Trash the Dress
Never!!

U- Unique
We had our reception in a barn... I don't really know anything that was unique. It wasn't a real barn, it had been totally renovated into a wedding venue.

V- Vows
We did the traditional wedding vows.

W- Wedding Woes
I don't know what to put here so I will put my favorite picture :-)

X-Rated
Don't think so!!

Y- Young Kids
My little sister was our flower girl. My little brother and Chris's little brother were ushers.

Z- ZZZZ!!
This post took me forever!! I hope you enjoyed it. If you have done this on your blog, leave me a comment so I can go look at it!! Now, I am going to sleep!

Have a great rest of the week and stay warm!!
